That bitch who lost her son in the war is a complete moron. Her son would be disappointed in his mom, because, he chosed to go to war, so she should shut her face, period.

I lost 2 cousins at war, and for her to try and stand up for all the military parents is disgusting. Letterman pointed fingers, that's toooo easy.
I lost 2 loved ones, and I'm still pro-war. And to think that some of you wouldn't want the same for Iraq that America has, I pity you.

6) Iran is boltering thier support and conflicts in that region could set off nuclear war, anyone of heard of pakistan and India, they have nukes setting off one will start WWIII, to be fair i think people know this.

7) Kim jon ill also has potential weaponry and is not stable, if crazy were a organized religion he would be pope.

8) Bush acts like he can communicate to GOD this is a scary notion, and he says he does everything in that name of GOD. This is just straight stupidity do not fight a war in the name of religion as it does not teach this, people bring this into the equation. But if God was on a side and think he would be nuetral (if there is a god). Now to be fair this is what the Extremnist are doing but its just foolishness.

9) Sudam has ignored many sactions that were placed against him, and he is like the bully that always gets caught at school. He is a teriable person not qualifying of the term human more like Dun from horses ass.

10) O'Rilley is a right wing supporter, but the man does have some good points.

11) Troop levels in Afganistan and finding bin laden are nothing to keeping the peace in Iraq, as for freedom fighters i dont know if you can call them that. More like oppressers, I mean we used gorillia tactics to win the revolutionary war but we did not do the extermetiy of keeping people ransom and using them as publicity tools for thier cause. To tell you the truth if we just didnt care if they took hostages they would probably stop it.

12) When the US pulls out two things will happen
the first is that the new goverment will be under siege and will suffer from civil war, once this is over the goverment anew will start actually being productfull. And second, certain wars will errupt.

13) Just because the area is small does not mean world war could not be the result. WW2 started in a small area and so did WW1 so these areas of being small yet very important to the world are hotbeds for conflict.

14) I am sorry for anyone who has lost a member of thier family or died as a restult of this war. I like to think that no one dies in vain, but i just dont know. We will never know if this war is worth fighting until 8 years after the current presidents term when all information will begin being released to the public. War in general is a adomanation but some wars are necessary.

15) Mrs. Shehan has a right to say what she wants and so do other people no ones a traitor for having an opinion. I love people make the asertion that people are traitors if they are on the other side of the fence if your for us your against us. If you agree with it great, while you agree with it also consider fighting in it. If you dont great, then also consider doing something beter then following the hippie ideaology how about community service.

16) Terrorism has affected the world long before 9/11 and the US as well long before 9/11. Terrorists are harbored all over the world, the war on terrorism will never be won or lost, it will go on. So will the war on drugs the war on God out of school and the war on everything that people think will kill them. Newsflash real quick, there is no 100% safe kind of thinking i am more about rights then security.

17) having bush have unprecedented access to suviling people will make our countrymen in fear to live. I now think of the NSA as the Gestopo, its a stupid belief i admit but thats what i think.

France was taken over quickly, yes - within 2 weeks - however there was resistance. England despite what you think was making progress, and as we all know Russia couldn't have been losing too harshly before June 1941 because Soviet and Nazi had a Non- Agression Pact signed. When it was broken in June 1941 Germany used the same tactics as they did with France and got a lot of quick victories but they also opened up a War on 2 fronts.

Anyways, U.S.A did help im just saying it wasn't the sole reason why europe wasnt taken over especially when the allies consisted of England, France, Soviet (after 1941), China, Australia, Canada, Belgium, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Poland, Holland, Norway, Greece, and a few more. To place sole victory on the U.S.A is extremely patriotic on your part I guess but also very wrong.

Dont say America is stupid, i'm Canadian, and they are the only thing that is still doing some fighting against an enemy. Look at the league of nations, a complete disaster, and look at the U.N now, its more of a symbol than anything, Only like 5 of the 35 peacekeeping missions has worked because no one is willing to take action. The only time we take action is when they are at war, and its impossible to keep peace, the only times we have actually made a difference is by being agressive in conflict with bombings and such. But those arent examples of peacekeeping, thats forced peace. The Peacekeeping troops have no power, and numerous times have simply had the attacking group parade right through their camp completely incapable of stopping them. So what if the U.S makes mistakes. they are willing to put out with the risk of actually making a mistake, while the rest of the world sits back and rely's on U.N sanctions that are not enforced, Except Trade embargo's, and most of the time those fail because some of the U.N nations depend on trade with them.

This IS a typical, though sad, example of what some who have never served think of the military.

Well I am from Australia, so I suppose I am a little more objective than many of the commenters on this article. So let’s look at a few points:

(1)War is wrong! And we should try to avoid it when ever possible. Any person killed due to war is a wasted life. I understand that if your country is invaded in a similar way to WWI or WWII then there is a need to defend yourself.

(2)To those people who abuse others to try and make a point. I say grow up! When you deviate from using logical arguments or even personal opinions and begin spouting abuse your point looses its purpose and no one listens.

(3)No mater what side of the debate you are on you must admit that George Bush is not exactly a smart man. But then again I do not believe that he runs the show anyway, it’s his big business buddies in the oil and arms industries.

(4)As for the people who claim the women complaining about the death of her son is wrong, I say to you have children of your own and see if you feel the same. OK, he was over there doing a job he signed up for, but that does not mean it is not a waste of a life. I can not believe that the human race has not evolved from using war as a tool to achieve its goals. We have obviously learnt nothing from our tragic history.

(5)I believe that the troops and the Iraq civilians are the victims in all of this. The USA and allies including Australia are in Iraq for one reason and that is money. Why did they invade? First it was WMD, then links to terror, and now to remove Suddam. Well I am afraid that if you’re looking to invade a country to remove a dictator and free its people. You do not bomb their water supplies, the electricity supplies and the infrastructure of the country. They went in for oil and economic benefit from rebuilding, and arms sales.

(6)Modern warfare is big business and THE USA and many other countries only involve themselves in conflicts which may benefit them in some way. If they are really looking out for the good of the world then remove all the dictators, even the ones which are puppets of the US government.

(7)The USA continues to make problems for itself by helping these people come to power as long as it serves American interests. Then when it all goes wrong it is everyone else’s fault but theirs. For instances Saddam, the Taliban, and Noriega, are just a few of the oppressors the US has assisted over the years to gain and keep power as long as it served a US goal.

So look all I really want to say is that this type of debate is good at least people have an opinion. But just remember don’t believe everything the government and the television tells you. Research the issue and form an opinion of your own do not have blind faith, not everything is black and white, good or evil, and most politicians (like most human beings) have their own interests at heart, not the interests of the people they represent.

part 4: The woman who lost her child has every right to complain but it is unforunate that she does it at the expense of other moms that have sons and daughters in Iraq. In every war someone will lose a loved one, undermining your comrades in arms does not bring them back or protect those that are still there. Man has not evolved, people have always fought amongst themselves and will most likely contine to do so.

* As for your comment on point 2 & 3, I do not see what you mean I did not abuse anyone. I expressed an opinion on the intelligence of the US president. If I wanted to be abusive I would have said he was a MORON.

* Finally I do not see how people who depose the war are undermining your comrades in arms. As I have said the soldiers are simply doing their job and for that they should be praised. But the fact remains that these people work for what should be a defence force (the meaning in the name).
