On Monday April 16th, 32 people were gunned down at Virginia Tech -- another two dozen injured -- with the gunman ending the rampage by shooting himself. It was the deadliest killing spree in U.S. history. Why did this happen?

One life such as his...Not worth many lives such as those at college with a bright future. I don't give a fuck about the psychology behind him. He's a worthless piece of shit. Killing innocent people, I wish he would have lived. So he can go to prison and get his butthole stuffed for the rest of his scronny little selfish life.

Gunfree school zones don't stop homicidal psychopaths from bringing guns on campus. Simple.

Allow everyone who is legally allowed to carry a gun, carry guns where ever they please, short of totally secure zones like airports.

@hahajohnnyb, that is ridiculous. If guns weren't so easily acquired people would have a harder time getting them... DUH!
Just because it wouldn't completely wipe the death rates by guns doesn't mean it's useless. Are drugs being made legal because they can still be acquired regardless of law restrictions? I don't think so...

I really don't know how someone could dispute the fact that freely available guns to all and sundry allow for this sort of thing to happen more often than if they were NOT available. I also find the "one gun a month" law quite unbelievable. One is usually enough!

if its simple "maths" then why does it not match the results? Washington DC has the highest murder rate in the country, and guns are nearly banned. By your "Maths" they should have the lowest incidence of gun crime, not the highest.

Evidence has shown that crime rates have decreased in all areas that have "shall issue" concealed carry gun permits. Meaning that any citizen for any reason can carry a gun where ever.

Fact is that these mass shootings always happen in gun free zones like schools and post offices, or NASA (which is also a gun free zone).

All these gun free zones do is create a space where any criminal knows that he can do whatever he wants and people will not be able to defend themselves.

Sure in a perfect world there would be no need for guns, but the World is not perfect and there have always been psychopaths who are willing to do all sorts of violence on other people.

When the people are disarmed, then they are at the mercy of any psychopath who happens to be armed with a gun or knife, or who happens to be bigger and stronger than they are.

Its long been said, "God made all people, but Sam Colt made all people equal." This is as true now, as it was back then.

Besides its a long established right in America that individuals have the right to bear arms in America.

If you think that should be changed, fine get the constitution amended, but until firearms are totally banned you put the public at risk by disallowing the people their right to carry arms.

That is the stupidest comment I have ever heard.
Banning guns does not take the guns out of criminals hands who have no regard for the law. Look at where you are not permitted to carry. Gun violence is on the rise. Why? Because criminals know people can't defend themselves.

Come on people, think about it. How likely are you to get robbed, raped or mugged if the person might think you might have a gun. How likely is your house to get robbed with you there if the robber thinks you have a gun that is loaded, not with some fucking trigger lock!

The last thing someone will hear when they enter my hous illegaly is the click of me chambering a bullet.

You think my comment is stupid, well I am sorry you still dont see the simplicity of it all.

I live in a Country that has not had any massacres since the introduction of very strict gun laws over 12 years ago.

My country like yours and every other Country in the World has crazy people and criminals, the only difference is the people capable of mass murder in my Country cannot easily obtain a weapon.

Yes we have criminals with black market guns but most of their violence is kept between criminal gangs - Criminals shooting other criminals,e.g. drug deals going bad, mafia hits on enemy mobs, ect.

Gun violence is on the rise in America simply because there are way to many guns floating around. If America had laws that prevented that stupid gook from buying a gun those 33 people would all be alive and end of fucking story.
