thirdeyeopen, I'm going to assume your question was serious. Runaway Truck Ramps are for exactly what they sound like they're for. They are usually on a steep decline, like on a mountain, and if a truck cannot slow down enough it wouldn't be able to make a turn, and would probably go right off the road and down the mountain in a really bad way. Runaway Truck Ramps are in these areas, and they incline instead of decline. There is a pit of Gravel or Sand when you go into it, and the truck is supposed to stop very quickly in the 'pit' of Gravel or Sand.

axn is an asian cable channel, the subtitles look like traditional chinese so i think this was recorded in taiwan, and the narrator sounds like this is one of those "worlds wildest videos" shows. i don't know what's wrong with having subtitles. but i hope there was a sign on the road warning about those speed bumps, they were fricken huge, i don't think any sedan would have the ground clearance to go over it. the front axle on the truck fell off :x

that's kind of incorrect to say it doesnt prevent crashes, it causes them. since it really does prevent worse crashes, if a trucker has to use one it's their fault anyhow. They're used as emergency exits going down hills and if a driver rides on his brakes too much the pads burn out and then they have to use one of these stopping ramps to prevent the trucks from flying down a hill and smashing into someone else down the road
