"i am the walrus" is a 1967 beatles song, written by john lennon and credited to lennon-mccartney. lennon later claimed he wrote the first two lines on separate acid trips. the song was used in their 1967 television film and album magical mystery tour, and was released as the b-side to the #1 hit "hello, goodbye". it is one of the beatles' most striking and effective experimental songs from the psychedelic period, and is noted as being one of the most adventurous examples of lennon's wordplay. lennon composed the song by combining three separate songs he had been working on. additionally, when he learned that a teacher at his old primary school was having his students analyze beatles' lyrics, he added on a verse of specifically nonsensical words designed to confuse listeners. the walrus within the song is a reference to the walrus from lewis carroll's the walrus and the carpenter. lennon later expressed dismay at learning that the walrus was the villain within the poem.

the beatles performed "get back" (along with other songs from the album) as part of the "beatles rooftop performance" which took place on the roof of apple studios in savile row, london on january 30, 1969. the beatles' performance was interrupted by the police, who had received complaints from office workers nearby. it was during this period that mccartney ad-libbed: "you've been playing on the roofs again, and you know your momma doesn't like that...she gets angry...she's gonna have you arrested! get back!"
this is the music video for the last song the beatles recorded together in 1995. paul, george and ringo contributed and used a recording john did on a hand held tape recorder in 1977. it was used as the opening track for the beatles anthology 2.
"paperback writer" is a song written by paul mccartney and john lennon and released by the beatles on the a side of their eleventh single. it went to the number one spot in britain, the united states, west germany and australia. this was the first beatles single that wasn't a love song (however "nowhere man" was their first album song released with that distinction). on the u.s. billboard hot 100, "paperback writer"'s two-week stay at number one was interrupted by frank sinatra's "strangers in the night".
a product of the recording sessions for the beatles (aka the white album), "revolution" featured distorted guitars and an electric piano solo by session musician nicky hopkins. this track is said to be one of the loudest and most aggressive beatles songs; it begins abruptly with a loud, overdriven electric guitar played by lennon, a thundering, compressed drum beat from ringo starr and a wailing scream from lennon (the scream was an overdub added when lennon double tracked his vocal. mccartney performed the scream on the 'david frost show' semi-live television performance, because lennon could not deliver the scream and catch his breath again in time to launch into the first verse.)
