here's another rear view of the atlantis hotel
fish-eye view of the space shuttle atlantis as seen from the russian mir space station during the sts-71 mission.
found this cool clip of a lost city atlantis emerging out of ocean.
a great time killer defend, atlantis before the mines, humans, and subs come to destroy you. wrap you enemy's with the bubbles.
atlantis also has the 2nd largest collection of marine life in the world. it was dark outside when we walked through the aquarium and since it's open on top and completely lit by the sun, most of the pics are kind of shadowy. some turned out very good though, like this one. i'm not sure what kind of fish they are but they are almost paper thin.
this is a full view of the huge atlantis hotel on paradise island, bahamas. we didn't stay there so we did't have full access to the entire place but came out with some good pics nonetheless.
space shuttle atlantis looked out over earth in this image photographed by a nasa crew member tuesday. the shuttle arrived at the international space station wednesday for a weeklong stay, and the astronauts quickly unloaded a huge platform full of spare parts.
here's a picture of the private beach behind the hotel.
here's the other half of the private beach behind the hotel.
here's a close-up of the stone swordfish sculptures on top of the hotel. you can also see them in the full view shot i posted.
i didn't take this one, i wasn't allowed back where it was taken from. it's a good shot though so i thought i'd post it. that middle part that connects the two big buildings is actually one huge suite that runs you $25,000 a night!
i didn't take this one either, i couldn't even see this from where i was at. the slide actually takes you through a big shark tank, as you can see in the pic.
this picture was taken from the entrance of the hotel looking towards the marina, where the ultra-rich park their luxury yachts while they gamble.
one of the luxury yachts in question (note the sea-doos on top) - it must be nice to be loaded!
this is another aquarium pic i took that i really like. one of my favs, actually. jellyfish are trippy as hell.
here's a cool pic of a couple seahorses. they totally look like little toys.
moray eels are creepy as hell!
collection of photographs of the atlantic hotel, and it's surroundings.
thanks to speedball for these pictures.
while the world is in a recession dubai is spending 20 million dollars worth of fireworks
bbc horizon presents: "on a winter night in 373 bc, the classical greek city of helike was destroyed by a massive earthquake and tidal wave. the entire city and all its inhabitants were lost beneath the sea. what has bewitched archaeologists about helike is that it was engulfed just when ancient greece was reaching its height; when the philosophy and art that inspired the western world for thousands of years were invented."
