What is the SpikedHumor Experience Point (XP) System?

The Experience Point system is a fun new way to participate on SpikedHumor. All articles posted on Spiked Humor after September 7, 2005 at 10:00 P.M. P.S.T. can be interacted with to acquire XP. The system allows you to gain XP points while browsing our site, voting, and viewing files. This makes the site more interactive and with more XP you have greater influence on the site as well as the option to participate in our monthly drawing for cool prizes. Who can participate in the XP System?

Only registered users are able to participate in the XP system. Go here to register an account and get started on earning XP!

How do I earn XP?

First off, you can earn XP by registering an account and logging in.

Once logged in you can earn additional XP in the following ways:

- Viewing and rating articles.

- Uploading content to the site.

- Using the "Share Video" options located below the video window there are three ways to earn XP:

Two ways are to copy the "Video URL" or the "Embedded Link" code and post it on some of your favorite sites, each time a person clicks on the link you will earn 5 XP.

The third way is to use the "Email to Friend" option to send any article to your friend, once they click on the link in their e-mail you will receive 10 XP.

What can I do with my XP?

There are two major benefits to gaining XP. First you can spend the XP points you earn to enter our monthly drawings. Second, as you raise in XP levels your voting power will increase.

How do I enter into the monthly drawing?

You enter a drawing by spending the necessary XP cost to buy an entry. The cost for each entry is 50 XP. At the end of drawing period the winners will be randomly selected. The more entries you have in the drawing, the more of a chance you have to win.

What is voting power?

As you gain XP you can level up your voting power. This means that your votes will have more power to sway an article’s ranking. For example if you had a voting power of 1.4 your votes would be worth 1 complete vote and 0.4 of another vote.
